BE OPEN TO A NEW PROCESS
Over the past several weeks I have had the opportunity to explore numerous museums throughout Los Angeles. These visits have opened my mind and made me more aware of my approach to projects and my craft. The longer my journey is in the city of angels the better I see light, subject and the importance of vulnerability and authenticity. Two words that have saturated social media branding. However, these platforms seem to fail the meaning and impact of these expressions.
I realized that it is not possible to force a creative into a particular societal package and compartmentalize there craft.
My program has helped me slow down the "spinning wheel" of my thinking. I have limited my exposure to social platforms and explored the readings of Pema Chödrön and numerous great visionaries of art. The art of Leonardo da Vinci, Pierre Auguste-Renoir, Rembrant Harmenszoon van Rijn, Vincent van Gough and a personal favorite, Degas.
Exploring the details of their works and educating myself on their craft and struggles, helped me better understand my process and the approaches of my peers. The highly sensitive nature of artist is detrimental to developing impactful work. It can also lead to their demise if they do not nurture their well-being and restore their vitality.
Pema Chödrön, a beloved Buddhist teacher, author, nun and mother, emphasizes the importance of practicing peace in turbulent times.
